Our hero: Serge Gainsbourg

Serge was the dirty old man of popular music; a French singer/songwriter and provocateur notorious for his voracious appetite for alcohol, cigarettes, and women, his scandalous, taboo-shattering output made him a legend in Europe but only a cult figure in America, where his lone hit “Je T’Aime…Moi Non Plus” stalled on the pop charts — fittingly enough — at number 69.

Our hero: Slim Aarons

Slim Aarons is a very famous personality and photographer who lead an amazing life capturing the lives of the rich and famous. Aarons made his career out of what he called “photographing attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places.” “I knew everyone,” he said in an interview with The (London) Independent in 2002. “They would invite me to one of their parties because they knew I wouldn’t hurt them. I was one of them.”

Today, a few of our favourites to remind you of the summer ahead.
