FAQs
Here are some commonly asked questions we receive about our Umbrella Bases. Please get in touch if you have more questions, we're here to help.
One of the most common questions we're asked is, "What umbrella base do I choose?". The answer to that is always based on a couple of important criteria. When choosing the right umbrella base, you need to ask yourself three important questions:
- Is the umbrella light or heavy?
- Is the area very exposed and windy?
- Will it be freestanding, or in a table?
With the above criteria in mind, we have pulled together a quick guide to help you choose the right umbrella base for your location, and umbrella!
Have a look at our umbrella comparison table, or jump to our blog post here.
All of our umbrellas are compatible with all of our umbrella bases. Which one you choose depends on a couple of things:
- How windy is the site?
- How big is the umbrella?
- Do you need to move it around?
- Will it be freestanding or in a table?
Our general rule of thumbs are:
- the windier the site, the heavier the umbrella base;
- the bigger the umbrella, the heavier the umbrella base;
- if you need to move it around, go for something on wheels;
Check out our comparison table above for more information, or jump to our blog post here.
All of our umbrella bases are made from mild steel. We use a range of high-performance treatments and coatings to help protect and seal the steel plate for improved protection from wear and tear (and rust).
Rust is a natural part of the ageing process for steel. So while our steel products have rust inhibitors and treatments applied at manufacture, they may require additional maintenance over time.
We highly recommend that early signs of rust are removed and treated with a rust proof agent like ‘Gal-Spray’.
It’s important to keep the coatings on your base as intact as possible. That means not rolling round bases on their edge, and moving bases carefully to avoid cracks and chips will help.
Yes they are! We make all our umbrella bases to a commercial standard, meaning, suitable for daily use in commercial venues, so coastal homes are included in that brief.
Yes, we have a range of permanent in-ground fixtures available to our Trade partners. They provide a fantastic, high performance solution for windy sites. Get in touch about your project here.
